We welcome you to come and experience the beautiful city of Kiev, and its culture during this wonderful time of year. You will see first hand what God is doing in and through the ministries of Music Mission Kiev. Ukraine has its roots in centuries-old traditions. A visit to Kiev, it's capital, is almost like stepping back in time. The pages of history will come alive as you stroll the historic streets, see the spectacular Cathedrals, taste the ethnic foods, shop for souvenirs, and marvel at the sights and sounds of the city.
We make all of the arrangements, including air travel, lodging, meals, visits to museums, concerts, cultural events, and participation in the many varied ministries of MMK. This trip will allow you to experience the various ministries of MMK, and meet the people participating in these ministries. The all-inclusive cost for the trip is around $3,000. [There may also be an additional cost to the above amount from your home town to the departing city.]
Make MMK part of your travel plans for 2011 and experience the wonderful people of Ukraine. Please contact our office at 1-800-467-5051, Ext. 226 for a brochure and additional information. We love to provide our friends with an incredible experience that they will never forget.
PERSONAL VISION TRIP TESTIMONY from Dick & Mary Beckman, Mesa, AZ.
We Came, We Saw, We Left in Awe!!
In mid-May of 2005, Mary & I flew from Phoenix to the Dulles airport to meet up with several other people to participate in a “Vision Trip” conducted by Music Mission Kiev. At the time, we did not know any of the participants other than Sharon Butler, a staff member whom we had met when our church had sponsored a KSOC even in October, 2004. We really did not have any idea of what to expect when we arrived in Kiev.
I think that most people come to see the KSOC performances and leave feeling that that they had seen a great musical event for their money. What they don’t get to see is what we saw in Kiev—the mission work that Music Mission Kiev (MMK) does to help the widows, orphans and children.
We saw and met many of the widows and heard their testimonies on how important Roger & Diane and the MMK have been in their lives. We witnessed the handing out of food to some of the 410 widows that are being helped on a weekly basis. We even got to visit a widow in her own home to see how they live and cope with society in Kiev. We learned about “Christian Hugs”. (You will have to make the trip to experience these!) Many of these widows are now Christians!
We met and became friends with many of the orphans who help the mission. We enjoyed sitting in on one of their bible classes and hearing of the hardships they faced and can easily see how their lifestyle has improved due to the work of the mission.
We were privileged to go to a school and got to see one of the bible teachers in action. We were also entertained by the children as they sang several inspirational sings—one of which was even in English.
On another day, we visited a hospital where one of the widows was being treated. I would have to say, the conditions by American standards were very, very poor. We brought her some fruit and visited with her for over an hour. She was overwhelmed by the fact that we visited her and brought her food.
While in Kiev, we also took in much of their culture as we visited several cathedrals, attended a Sunday service at the church Roger and Diane attend, also attended a full orthodox service at St. Michael’s, went to a circus, opera, and a ballet. We were also privileged to attend a KSOC concert which was a real treat. We even got to see the Ukrainian State Folk dancers which I thought were probably the greatest live show that I have ever seen.
We had dinner one evening with a couple from the KSOC whom we had hosted in our house last year. That was a real treat for Mary & I. It happened to be their 31st wedding anniversary and they also invited another couple and we all had a great time.
Kiev is a fascinating city. Since communism ended in the early 1990’s along with the impact of the Orange Revolution a few months ago, there is renovation and new construction everywhere you look. The city is really growing and we probably will not recognize it in another 10 years.
While on the trip, we met and became friends with all of the other people who also took the trip. The food was great—much of it prepared by the kitchen staff at the mission. We met all of the staff members who were there and were very impressed by how much has been done in such a short time—only 12 years. A little of our money really goes a long way in Ukraine! There is still much to do and Roger & Diane & MMK can use all the help they can get. The people being helped are so sincere and truly appreciate any help they get.
We were truly impressed and will return.
