22 Days of War in Ukraine
We were able to continue our mission efforts this week. We wired funds to the Stara Basan orphanage for much-needed food and supplies. They were grateful they were not forgotten. Serhiy Basarab continues to check on them daily.
I listened closely to President Zelensky’s address to Congress yesterday, March 16. I pray our country’s leaders were moved to greater action. Please continue to write your representatives and voice your concern that the war continues.
Today a bomb hit the Darnytsia region. It is a short ride across the river from our offices. Please pray our offices will be intact when the war ends. Around 4:30 pm, we received word that several artillery shells hit the neighboring region, and many lives were lost.
We have a complete update on our staff members and now know where they are temporarily living. We are grateful they are all safe. Ira Locktionova ended up having to evacuate Kyiv and is now safe in the Czech Republic. They all are anxious to return home.
Vika Konchaskovka reports that her neighborhood is quiet. However, we learned that at least one bomb or missile struck her district. When Serhiy spoke with her, she was safe and headed out to deliver food and medicine to a widow who lives in her neighborhood.
Pastor Ruslan is becoming our version of the Energizer Bunny. He keeps going and going. He continues to find food and medicines for the widows and most vulnerable still living in Kyiv under extraordinary circumstances.
I received a picture of Yuri after Ruslan delivered supplies to his apartment this morning. While this picture is a little blurry, his smile is very clear. The second picture is Valentina Verba receiving her needed medicines. Thank you, Ruslan!
Prayer Items
Pray for our many widows as we work to stay in contact with them and meet their urgent needs.
For everyone delivering aid to be protected and safe. They are seen as angels of mercy.
For the crimes against civilians to stop immediately.
For greater air defense support to reach Ukraine.
For God’s protection, safety, strength, and courage for the men and women fighting this war. This is a land of strong and courageous people.
For the refugees who are struggling to settle, and yet anxious to return, not knowing if their homes are still standing.
