Report From Chaplain Vasil K.
One of our partners in ministry, Vasil K., who is the Senior Chaplain of the Baptist Union of Ukraine, wanted to pass on this note to you.
Dear Music Mission Kiev,
Recently, my assistant Leonid K. and I went to the war zone in the Donetsk region to provide spiritual support for the servicemen of the unit that have been under our care for a long time. We were scheduled to visit them long ago, but the quarantine restrictions held us back.
Commanders of the unit did their best to expedite our mission as chaplains. When all the men came in every morning, I spent about 4-5 minutes reading the Bible, giving the spiritual charge, and praying. It was so good to hear many soldiers saying at the end of the prayer, ''Amen!'' We placed a table with Christian literature and candy in the area, where they had general formations. During the day, we discussed various life matters with officers and soldiers. Several officers expressed an interest in the Word of God, and we gave them Bibles.
It turned out that one of the officers as a kid went to Sunday school for seven years. His mother is a Baptist believer. At some point, he stopped attending Sunday school. He was so glad to meet with us. When I suggested we pray together, he said that he hadn't prayed in a long while, I continue to stay in touch with him and send him a short Bible-based message every day.
My assistant Leonid is a real car expert. With his assistance, servicemen in this unit were able to fix several automobiles. As we were leaving, the commander and other soldiers expressed their sincere gratitude for our support. Leonid and I had also gotten letters of appreciation. I do realize that our mission was made possible through the prayers and financial support of many people. I am grateful to all of you and ask the Lord to bless you. And all the glory belongs to Him!
Thank you for your faithful partnership in the Gospel.
Vasil K.
