Visit with Ruslan R.
Ruslan R. is from Kropyvnytskyi, a city in central Ukraine. Ihor and Dima, the local pastors, visited him and brought him medicines.
Ruslan doesn’t know much about God, only that God healed the sick and sent His son into the world. He compared the crucifixion of Christ with The Inquisition. Ihor and Dima shared about faith, repentance, and Jesus’ sacrifice.
Ruslan has a 19-year-old son, who is a student and lives separately. They don’t speak very often, but Ruslan supports his son financially by working as a taxi driver.
Ruslan is thankful for the medications we bought him. However, he told us that his heating boiler is old, and he could barely pay for the utilities. Ruslan suffers from various health problems such as tachycardia and many other symptoms.
Ruslan thanked the Mission for buying him expensive pills, especially the ones to treat his diabetes. He no longer needs to use insulin with these pills, and as a result, he can eat everything and live a normal life!
In bad weather, he has joint problems and feels like his legs are in pain; however, he has no legs. He doesn’t check his blood sugar every day but can feel when it goes up.
Ruslan keeps his spirits up, does not complain, and does not like to be pitied. He says, even though he is a Donbas war invalid, he gets no help from the state. He is incredibly thankful for our mission for all the help.
He can make a living as a taxi driver, but his car needs fixing which is too expensive. In the face of great difficulties, he does not lose heart!
Ihor and Dima, the pastors, told Ruslan that his personal relationship with God was the most important thing. They explained the real meaning of Christ’s crucifixion and sacrifice—that God sent His only Son Jesus to the cross for all his sins, to die instead of him. Please, pray for Ruslan!
