Visit with Vera M.

Lena recently visited Vera M. just a few days after she turned 86 years old.

Vera was not in her birthday mood since she was not feeling well at all. Though she does not go outside, the heat is something her body cannot stand.

An amazing fact: Vera came to our church 24 years ago. She says, with her little pension, receiving food packages was a Godsend for her.

Vera was the only child in her family that lived in Russia where the most fierce WWII battles took place. She says, her childhood was full of horror. After some years passed, Vera received a good education and then went to Novosibirsk (a big place in Siberia), where she spent 16 years working at the research institute that tested aircrafts. She later got married there. Since Vera was a passionate worker, she chose to move to Kyiv in 1973 when she learned that Antonov, a famous Soviet aircraft engineer, was then working in the capital of Ukraine.

Unfortunately, at the age of 50, Vera had to divorce her husband. She said the years of her retirement became especially hard when she, as the only child, had to take care of her dying parents who still were living in Russia. She says, “If it was not for the Mission, I cannot even imagine the kind of life I would have had.”

Vera's Stephen minister takes good care of her by doing all the grocery shopping and helping her around the apartment.

Please pray for Vera's health condition—she is not doing well these days at all.
