Visit with Halyna O.

Irina visits homebound widow Halyna Orlenko once a month. She delivers food vouchers and provides much-needed spiritual support. During this last visit, Ira noticed that Halyna had experienced a physical decline. She thinned and was barely able to move about her apartment. It was obvious she looked forward to seeing Ira. She told Ira, ‘’I miss you!’’ as soon as she arrived. Joy was written all over her face. 

Halyna admitted that Ira was the only person she could pray with. So they prayed and read Psalms and other Bible passages together. Halyna shared her age-related concerns and worries, especially her feeling of loneliness. It was an intimate conversation of two old friends, two sisters in Christ. Halyna is thankful to God for her sponsor, who has been taking care of her for so many years. She is also grateful to our mission for surrounding her with attention and love.
