Visit with Nina G.
Nina is 82 years old and has been a widow for a long time. She has a son, but it is rare for him to visit. According to Nina, he comes when she receives a pension. Her legs hurt a lot, so she only leaves the house for very short distances.
Nina invited us into her house, and we listened to her share about her life and the difficulties she’s endured along the way. She opened up and allowed us to have a heart-to-heart conversation with her. When the topic of death came up, we asked if she was ready to die. This conversation quickly turned to salvation through Jesus Christ and the care of God. We talked for a long time answering her questions. At one point, Nina abruptly interrupted us to say that she wanted to repent of her sins. When we asked her if she believes in God and His son Jesus Christ, she answered, “I believe!” Vasily, the deacon of the Light Of The Gospel Church, was with us. In fact, he is Nina’s neighbor. When he heard her words, he cried. Vasily shared that he had invited Nina to church several times, but she still refused. This was a victory of the Lord! We all surrounded Nina and prayed for her—it was a blessed time together.
Dima and Lyuba (our ministry partners from Donbas) take us around such lonely people, and together we share the Good News with them. They always rejoice because without our ministry, they could not enter the house of many to talk about God. After our visits, many friendships are made. Lyuba takes their contacts, invited them to their You Are Not Alone Group. At first everyone makes the excuse that it’s too difficult to walk, but Dima and Lyuba are persistent by saying, “it’s okay, we’ll pick you up!” We are continually amazed by the love they have for these widows. The You Are Not Alone Group has grown significantly as a result!
Thank you for your support of Music Mission Kiev, which makes widows’ visits like this possible.
